This year was the first year we have ever celebrated Thanksgiving without any extra family. Michael and I spent a day and half cooking a huge meal just for our not-so-little family. He made his first ever turkey by himself which turned out to the best we've ever eaten! And I made southern dressing and sides.
We started a new tradition of throwing a "thankful roll" around the table as we ate. We threw it back and forth to each other and whoever caught it said something they were thankful for-- it was a hit!
After eating, we relaxed around the house and later took the kids to a movie.
It felt odd to not have any family around besides ourselves and although we enjoyed our time, we did miss seeing family.
We joked about cooking such a big meal for just ourselves bc we eat together as a family every night so this was just a glorified version in some ways, which is how the "thankful roll" idea came about-- we wanted to add a bit of spice to our holiday!
