An Umbilical Hernia

My little Logan has an umbilical hernia. :/

----------------------------------------------------------------

An umbilical hernia is an outward bulging (protrusion) of the abdominal lining or part of the abdominal organ(s) through the area around the belly button.

The doctor said they are common and should heal on it's own.  If it has not healed by age 3, then a surgery will be done to correct it. I'm praying that his poor little belly button area will heal on its own. There really isn't an upside to this, other than I looked at pictures online and his doesn't look nearly as bad as some of those I saw.  It also doesn't hurt him at all.

As many things that can go wrong in pregnancy, or with the health of a baby, I feel blessed that I was only looking up stuff on this subject rather than something much more serious yesterday.

In other news about our newest lil guy, he now weighs 9lbs 5 oz. I'm amazed. He weighed 7 lbs 7 oz at birth.  At two weeks he weighed 7lbs 13 oz, and at 3 weeks 4 days he weighed 9lbs! Needless to say he is eating good. :)

He reminds me more of Michael than our other 2 kids, which I find that I love this about him. Logan can look at me with the same expressions that Michael has, he smells like Michael, has his hair texture, and his forehead.  That is my list so far-- thank goodness the little dude has lips though! ;)))

  1. Well, I have to say to chalk up another likeness of Michael :) Michael had one too shortly after birth. His was more elongated down thru the center of his chest...the doctor told me the same thing and sure enough, he outgrew it :)
